Health Partners is a leading provider of consultancy and medical support services to professional and elite level sport.
Sport and Exercise Medicine is at the heart of our work and our reputation with sport’s governing bodies, clubs, players, athletes, team doctors and specialists reflects our understanding and acknowledged expertise in this area.
Everything within or affecting the boundary of sports medicine is our business. With extensive in-house expertise complemented by specialist advisers including, doctors, lawyers, IT and risk consultants, we are able to bring the right mix of skills and resources to every project.
As “Official Healthcare Advisers” to the Premier League and the England & Wales Cricket Board, Health Partners is responsible for the procurement of over 95% of secondary treatment across all Professional Football and Cricket in England & Wales – including the England football and cricket teams – for the English Premier League, English Football League and the ECB Cricket County Championship.
We also work with The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) in the design and management of their medical programme. TASS is a dual career programme which co-ordinates support to talented athletes across 32 academic institutions allowing them to excel in their academic and sporting worlds. The TASS award is an annual award starting on 1st September and includes: S&C, Physiotherapy, Lifestyle, Psychology, Nutrition, together with a private medical scheme administered by Health Partners. Athletes are 16 years and older from 32 sports and each TASS award is nominated by the sport’s National Governing Body (NGB). Health Partners have administered the Medical Scheme since 2009 and has developed administration protocols with TASS to effectively manage the fund available. We are delighted to be part of supporting these promising athletes who are all eligible to represent England in a number of Olympic disciplines and have been identified as performing at the top of the Sport England Talent Pathway.
Formed in 1993, Health Partners Europe Ltd operates at the pinnacle of professional sport, directly supporting many of the highest profile clubs and players in the world, participating in the most lucrative tournaments cumulatively worth billions of pounds each year. We help to ensure that these highly tuned athletes are in the best possible position to contribute to the success of their clubs and teams.
We were the first company to develop and manage a sports healthcare trust when, in 1994 and working with the Premier League, we conceived, designed and launched “The Premier League Medical Care Scheme.” Today, Health Partners manages the healthcare arrangements of over 95% of the professional footballers in England and Wales.
Health Partners also operates similar schemes for the England and Wales Cricket Board at professional county level; the National Football and Cricket squads across all age-ranges, including various disability teams; Professional Women’s Football; Rugby Clubs and the Government backed Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme.
We are passionate about embracing technology and developing systems to continually provide the best possible services and medical trend analysis to our clients.
We continue to innovate and develop our diverse portfolio, which also includes traditional private medical insurance for individuals and companies across many industry sectors.
SEMPRIS was launched in 2010 in response to requests by doctors involved in the treatment of professional sportspeople for an indemnity scheme that provided comprehensive protection against the unique risks they faced and; addressed the decision by the MPS and MDU in 2008 and 2010 respectively to limit or withdraw cover for any damages, claimants’ costs and / or defence costs which relate to a claim against doctors from employers, clubs agents and sponsors.
The introduction of restrictive guidelines and exclusion of critical aspects of indemnity cover by the medical defence organisations prompted Health Partners Europe Ltd to establish SEMPRIS and has since been acknowledged as the only indemnity scheme for doctors involved in or exposed to the treatment of professional sportspeople.
SEMPRIS membership includes, but is not limited to; Orthopaedic Consultants, Radiologists, Cardiologists, Rheumatologists and SEM Physicians.
The SEMPRIS indemnity policy provides cover for UK domiciled doctors registered with the General Medical Council when working in the European Union. If the work is outside the EU then SEMPRIS need to be contacted to confirm the extension.
